Session Summary

We discuss going to the magic users meeting, aka Wizcon, on Saturday. Elzira read in his book that Gendry was founded about 450 years ago, its involvement in the war is unclear, in post-war recovery has a need for agriculture, and that Gendry played an important role in building up paths and trade routes. Pharèl attempts to sell the group on the festival. Star thinks it might be a good time for a heist. Pharèl, Elzira, Star, and Arachne attend Wizcon. Several regulars are away helping communicate with Valdethirsk, but about 30 are in attendance. Someone named Nikitha takes special interest in Pharèl's staff, telling him to hold onto it and be careful with it. Elzira meets an elf named Grizzle, who acts as his mentor. Twinkletoes puts on a successful show with other bards. Arachne and Star leave early, though separately. Elzara works the smithy. Pharèl goes looking for staff components and receives a piercing component at Anda's Pawn Shop. Arachne waits to speak to someone outside a church.

• Saturday Morning: Visiting the magic users event at the theater; trying to learn more about his staff and get connected with anyone interested in these things
• Saturday Evening: Depends on morning events

Other days: Work 2 shifts (breakfast + lunch or dinner), make social calls or go shopping

To do:

1. Attempting to get himself a stash of wine out of the festival deal
2. Meet with unnamed people about buying components for my staff.
3. Following up with town hall/whoever necessary to see if any news has come back for him
4. Following up with anyone else who needs to be involved in or convinced for festival planning

Shopping:

1. Figuring out if he can get himself a pair of fine clothes for fancy parties and events without paying full price (Possibly doing favors as needed or cooking a meal, etc)

Social:

• On random nights he goes out for drinks to make friends with townspeople. He invites Tasha, Chef Linguine, the innkeeper at Lazy Bear since he's met them a few times, whoever of the party he's run into that day, and anyone he connects with well at Saturday's event. He buys 1 round of mugs per person per accepted invitation. (max 1gp drinks budget for the week) #costs

Saturday morning

Day off of work for me!

• We talk about going to Wizcon

10am Wizcon

• Me, Elzira, Twinkletoes, Star, and Arachne go to Wizcon.

• Gathering of many magic users, about thirty folks.

• Seems that a few people are missing from the meeting.

• A couple of key members were called to help with communication and investigation of Valdethirsk

• Star sneaks off to learn more at town hall. Arachne gives him the trickster’s blessing.

• He asks Tasha whether there’s a meeting going on. She says no. The wizards have been doing this for a while. The messaging system works using a spell.

• Tasha offers to go with him to collect the most recent report, to the east of town.

I wander around the room kind of showing off my staff, I look for people who are possibly interested in it. This attracts some positive attention. I ask about their knowledge of magic weapons. Most seem confused. Someone says they just use a focus. Someone finally speaks up, saying “I think, I do believe, that’s of Conqel make from the war, is it not?” 

I let her handle the staff. She gives it a quick once-over and hands it back. “So, where did you find this?” I explain how I came to own it. “Very interesting. Perhaps I should not say everything right now. I don’t know a lot about you and I don’t particularly want to say too much but I advise you to hold onto that if you can manage. Be careful with it.”

I ask about meeting later and what her name is. “I’m Nikitha. Where are you from by the way? You sure are an interesting character, I will be keeping an eye on you.” She walks off, seeming to look for someone.

• Elzira is disappointed by the lack of structure at the event.

• Asking about specialities and what kind of spellcasters are.

• Looking around for someone who might be a viable mentor.

• The fourth elf seems interested. Elzira tells him wants to learn more magic from him.

• Elzira says he wants to learn more magic because he’s been adventuring.

• The elf asks if he wants to start right now. Elzira wants to start right now but is also interested in Christy and Audry who are the key missing members who usually get more interesting things happening.

• Elzira tells him about the adventures. When he’s struggling with the name of Valdethirsk, I happen by and whisper the town name for him.

• They both head out. As they walk out, the elf says, “The name’s Grizzle by the way. What’s your name?”

• Twinkletoes looks around for anyone who seems musically inclined.

• She sees two bards carrying lutes.

• She asks if they want to jam.

• They start up music in the corner, and put on a pretty decent show. People are either neutral or responding well to it.

• Arachne is looking around to see if anyone looks like they use holy magic.

• Nobody appears to be an obvious cleric.

• She leaves and goes to the smithy.

• She genuinely smiles at the doggo and helps Elzara in the smithy.

• Elzara heads to the Kokorun Smithy.

We all meet around lunch.

Saturday evening

• I go to find the people Dilip recommended I talk to about my White Quarterstaff. 

• They tell me they have what I’m saying (a component).

• It’s a little white block and it slots into the staff. I can see when I look at the block, it appears there’s a little engraving of a blade. He pushes up the block and at the end there is a little shine. At the end of the staff, a blade comes out. #items

• Mechanically: Deals piercing damage.

• He explains this was super common and offers it to me. It’s more common to find the modular components than the staff itself.

• I ask if he can tell the origin or who owned this previously. He tells me that it’s uniquely made, something custom. There’s no marking to tell who owned it.

•  The best places to look are similar shops. Places that resell stuff or specifically work with older items. (Pawn shop or antiques.)

• Performs outside of the theater with hat on the ground

• Is a bit more tired and doesn’t perform as well but still earns 3sp

• Elzira continues training.

• Star is feeling helpless and then remembers that he’d invited Arachne to the event but left her hanging. He goes looking for her. Neither I or Twinkletoes really know. He runs around checking the inn and fields. He doesn’t find her.

• Elzara continues work on the shield.

• Arachne goes wandering.

• Finds churches for the major gods and an unmarked one.

• She waits in the unmarked one for the person inside to stop worshiping so she can talk to them.

Dinner:

• I talk excitedly about my staff and offer to take everyone out for drinks.

• I invite Chef Linguine (comes), Tasha (busy), the innkeeper of Lazy Bear (comes)

• Arachne seems surprised that he apologized but looks pleased.
