Session Summary

Arachne uses Disguise Self to look like one of the guards. From here, Star pick the lock to the magic-filled room. With the door open, they see a 1x2ft cylinder 6ft in diameter across the room, as well as shelves with ancient artifacts. As they enter, the rug in the doorway attacks, but they manage to shred it to pieces. Inside, Star and Elzara mark the walls with the symbols from the trees. Many items appear to be glued to the shelves. Wash manages to start the cylinder, which is in fact a portal. He leans through the portal. Elzira attempts to detect magic on the other side, seeing nothing. As outside guards return, Wash sets the portal on fire and they all run out and scatter. Only Dilip Corry notices Elzara was missing from the festival. Elzira and Wash let us know it was an empty shed on the other side of the portal, likely for a smuggling operation. Kai will sell what artifacts were collected.

Arachne recasts Disguise Self as one of the guards they just incapacitated.

The familiar spider goes out in the hallway to see what they see. 

They search the guards for keys and only find house keys.

Star and Wash inspect the next door for traps and realize that there is a trapping mechanism in the door.

Star attempts to pick the lock and trapping mechanism. He does so successfully.

In the doorway is a welcome-mat sized rug imbued with magic.

They see a cylinder that is 1x2 feet and 6 feet in diameter. There are a bunch of shelves with ancient artifacts.

Star jumps over the rug to enter the room. As he does this, everyone can see the rug fly up at his head. It wraps around his head and appears to attempt to suffocate him. It deals him 10 damage.

Initiative begins, and the rug deals another 7 damage.

Arachne attempts to grab the rug and cast inflict wounds. Unfortunately, Star’s flailing body makes it difficult to grab it. She then attempts to at least heal Star for 7 damage.

Elzira uses the help action to help remove the rug. So does Elzara.

Star continues suffocating and takes 8 damage. With all the help, he manages to get the rug off of his head. In doing so it seems he might have dealt some damage to the rug. He sees another rug on the other side of the room.

Wash slashes at the rug, dealing 6 damage. 

The rug attempts to flee across the room, invoking a flurry of opportunity attacks. This shreds it to pieces.

Elzira attempts to detect magic again and the big wheel of cheese is the main thing. Along the sides of the room are a bunch of shelves. 

Star hands a bag to Elzara and he and Arachne begin carving the symbols in the wall. #consequences

They all attempt to swipe some things from the shelves.

Wash investigates the cheese wheel. He finds a place to open it. 

Arachne is attempting to steal non magical items but finds they are glued to the shelf. 

Star is very cautious. 

Arachne proceeds to steal only items that her goddess says are good.

In the main panel of the doohicky, Wash finds a slew of buttons. Inside is also something as a symbol for power. He clicks to start it. It seems to be driving by electricity or something similar, as an electricity sound occurs.

The ground shakes and beams of light spill out in various shades. It’s a portal!

Wash sticks his crowbar in to test it and nothing happens. He sticks his pinky finger inside, the other side feels warmer. He holds either side of the portal and leans his head through. He has Elzira come over and stick his head in to detect magic. He turns 360 degrees around the portal. He detects no magic.

As this is happening, a local spider notices that the front door is opening for the guards.

Wash snatches Elzira out of the portal and turns off the portal. He sprinkles excelerant over the portal and lights it on fire. #consequences

The run out the way they came, Wash tells them to scatter once outside and meet at his house no sooner than 2 hours from now. They all go over the back wall and disperse into the evening.

Everyone but Elzara goes unnoticed as missing throughout the festival, only Dilip Corry notices she was gone. #consequences

Later, we all meet back at Kai’s house after the festival.

Empty shed on the other side of the portal. Wash assumes the portal was a smuggling operation. #clues ^6e53a6

Kai is excited to look through the artifacts. Everyone has agreed to let him sell things elsewhere on the black market. #items #consequences
