Session Summary

We debate whether to continue our journey and hear someone say “Hello” near our previous battle location. It's a human named Sylvia, and we decide to bring her with us as she seems trustworthy. We sneak past seven Umber Hulks and eventually find a door that is magically concealed with sand. Star detects the illusion and picks the lock, revealing a barren 10x10 room with a second door. The second door has four dials with numbers on them, and a small torn note found on the door frame reads "It’s what you want the door to do." We eventually figure out the password and open the door, finding a blue light and a dead body with arrows in it. We sleep in a Tiny Hut next door.

Log

Star and Elzira reappear. We debate whether to keep traveling.

We hear someone say “Hello” over where we had just had our battle.

Sylvia. I’m Pharèl.

We chat and I decide that I trust her. She seems to know what she’s doing so I invite her back to help us.

She offers a health potion for Elzara. Elzara doesn’t really trust it.

Sylvia offers to take a sip to prove it isn’t poisoned. Elzara finally decides to drink it.

We decide to bring Sylvia with us and move on in attempted stealth.

About three hours in we see seven umber hulks. They don’t appear to notice us. We manage to sneak past them.

After traveling about another hour, we suspect we’re in the area we should be but we don’t see anything obvious.

Star looks for hidden entrances. He sees some possible locations that might be able to hide something, whether an entrance or our party.

He finally steps out from behind me and points out this area.

Sylvia is startled by his presence. He jokes around with her.

Twinkletoes mentions Tiny Hut.

Elzira goes with Sylvia. Star goes with Arachne. Twinkletoes goes with Elzara.

I end up joining Sylvia and Elzira after they notice I’m off on my own.

I am keeping an eye out for dragon bones. Sylvia points out the dragon remains are more common from where we came from, where we found the other remains.

Elzara and Twinkletoes dig away, looking for anything that isn’t sand. Twinkletoes recites poetry to inspire them.

Star and Arachne are diggin. Star has some specific digging strategy. Arachne is asking her rod for guidance.

Elzira runs into hard rock really early. About an hour and a half into the digging, Elzira is quite certain he’s found a door to a structure.

All together we are able to mostly uncover the door to this hidden bunker in another half hour.

Whenever we step back the door looks like it’s still covered in sand.

I look for writing, but don’t find any. I do see scuffs where the lock is. It looks like someone was trying to force it open. I hug the door to try and detect its magic.

Arachne pushes past me and attempts to open the door. It feels like a normal locked door.

I suggest the crowbar. Arachne wants to try it. Elzira stops us.

Star finally casts Detect Magic. He can sense the illusion spell with the sand. About 10 feet behind the door is something else magic from the school of enchantment.

He checks so well for traps and finds none. He can even see there is nothing rigged immediately on the other side of the door.

I go above the door and look down as Star tries to pick the door. Star successfully picks the lock. He opens the door and sees a 10x10 room. He looks for the enchanted item. The room is pretty barren. There is a second door. That is the magic item. At this point, he can see the second door looks like a solid metal door. There are four dials on the door with numbers on them.

The frame has dust on it. The door frame extends past where you would expect a door frame to go. 24 97 30 16 - the numbers on the door. There seem to be 99 numbers per option.

Elzira figures out that the door might have some kind of alarm or booby trap.

On top of the door frame, Star finds a small torn note. He can read “It’s the usual dummy, the one you can’t forget, i-” #clues

Star suggests that the password is 1, 2, 3, 4. I immediately step up and enter the password, Star and I attempt to listen for the clicks. I immediately try the door.

The door does not open.

Twinkletoes wants to keep looking for the rest of the note and is able to do so. She pieces it all together, and it reads:

It’s what you want the door to do. The rest of the group leaps to OPEN. #clues

15 - 16 - 5 - 14

Star hears clicks for these numbers as well. Star reaches and pulls on the door. It is no longer resisting! The door is cracked open!

Inside the door is a blue light shining out of a pillar. It looks like it’s set up to fire arrows. It’s pointing in our direction. There is also a body on the ground. It’s about 10 feet into the room and rotting with arrows sticking out of it. It’s 7:35pm.

Twinkletoes does Tiny Hut and we sleep next door at the entrance.
