Session Summary

We search through the robots and find cores and parts, and Star detects magic in the next room. In the north door, we find a locked door and doors to the sides which the robots have gone through. I go to the room on the right and see a paper with a warning message and a lantern. In a desk, I find star charts with a particular area circled, an orb with engravings of a person, and documentation on materials and processes. I take the charts and orb but give the orb to Arachne who is looking for it. I go to explore the small bedroom and find bracers with a note saying they have finally been fixed. In a drawer, I find an object that I recognize can connect to my staff, giving it an extra five feet range. In the other room, we find eating areas with shields and a glowing one that floats, which Elzara takes. Twinkletoes finds a closed chamber in a hallway.

Log

I am looking through the robots for anything familiar, but I absolutely cannot find anything due to shame and embarrassment. I find a loose ball bearing and just fiddling with it. I hold onto it.

Star starts casting Detect Magic as a ritual in the next room. I am collecting little robot parts at the feet of Elzara as a kind of gift.

Twinkletoes is pacing. Elzara returns to normal size.

I go into the next room and begin looking around. The north door is locked with a similar code. The doors to the sides are ajar, the robots seem to have gone through them.

I go into the room to the right, but don’t see much of note other than a desk with papers.

I approach the desk. I feel two darts hit me. I make two CON saving throws and take 5 damage. It came from up north.  There is some blue light from the upper room where I can see there is a turret. I use my last shield spell but it hits me anyways as it strikes again. I take 2 more damage. #encounters/turrets

I dive into the corner and shout “TURRET!” and fire off a Fire Bolt, but miss (17 to hit).

Star picks the magic door with the backup lock. There are traces of magic but nothing functional. He pulls out six cores from the robots (10lbs each) and stashes them. #items

I look for anything openable. I find some openable desk drawers. I see a paper in yellow with text in all caps. It says “Stop changing it. Stop with your notes. This is your last warning before disciplinary action.” There is a lantern that I light with my tinderbox. I use the light to help me look through the desk further. #clues #items

It appears we have found some kind of hidden laboratory.

In the first drawer is a note half hanging out. The second drawer is locked.

The letter says “Waiting on items from Perfrind, please don’t yell at me.” The other papers look like documentation on materials used and processes attempted. #clues

I enter the same combination of numbers to open the second drawer. On top of the drawer are what appear to be star charts. The different labels indicate where you’d be looking at the sky from. One has a particular area on the edge circled. There is a little note, “This plan is insane, it’ll never work.” I pocket the star charts. There is an orb. It looks like it has engravings on it. The engravings depict maybe a person of some sort. Holding their hands up, think ancient Egyptian. #clues #items

Arachne sees me pocketing the orb, and walks over. She reminds me she was looking for these orbs, which I had totally forgotten, and after initial confusion I happily hand it over. #items

I ask if she knows about the star charts, Arachne says there’s a joke but doesn’t know it.

I am getting sad cause I can’t keep anything I find. Twinkletoes offers me a vial, which makes me smile. #items

Elzira investigates the robot cores. He can see that the cores are made to divert stored energy for being pulled out as needed.

I go into the next room to explore. There is a small bedroom. There is spoiled food. I lay down on the bed and look at the ceiling. The bed creaks under my weight as it sags. I look around for hidden compartments in this room.

Star walks into the other room on the left and sees nothing.

In my room I see bracers on the table with a note that says “I’ve finally gotten them to work.” #items #clues

I dig through the drawers, and I find another object. A portion looks familiar, like it might connect to my staff. There are some instructions for attachment and activation. There’s a portion that looks like it’s part of a form that is partially filled out. The use part says “I think you can figure this one out for yourself, buddy.” #items #clues

When I install it and try it out, it extends the staff an extra 5 feet, giving me 10-feet range mechanically. ^a6950a

In the other room, they look around and find eating areas. There are a couple of shields in one of the rooms. They seem a little broken down but more complete than the rest. One is actually glowing a little bit, a dim light-blue light.

Twinkletoes touches it and attempts to pick it up. It feels almost like it is floating. She runs it over to Elzara, who gladly takes it. #items

Twinkletoes runs back into the dining room to continue exploring and finds a hallway. She finds a big chamber that was clearly closed before. It looks like there are six humanoid storage slots, probably where the robots were stashed earlier.

Arachne peeks into the turret room and sees a bead and some tubes/pipes. #clues

Elzira throws Flaming Sphere on top of the turrets.

I try to get through the last locked door and by a miracle manage to pry the door open just a bit. Inside is a machine that looks like the portal we saw at Hedvika’s place. #clues
