Into the Gray

Session Summary

We find Wash, who seems to be in a dazed state, and after resting for an hour, we continue on our journey back to town. Along the way, we spot four owlbears, but manage to hide and avoid them. Wash's sword is screaming, and he is able to detect six more owlbears ahead of us. We travel uneventfully for the rest of the day, and Arachne finds a cave for us to rest in. During our watches, we learn more about each other, especially that Wash isn’t fully present and seems to be some sort of confusing diety now.

Star and Elzira reappear. After about another minute, Wash reappears and collapses onto the ground.

We question Wash and he doesn’t appear to be completely here.

I show off my staff extension to Wash and pull out the bracers, and Star mentions that he’s been looking for some of those. #items

I pipe up that maybe Wash knows what the weird orb is that we found. Arachne starts talking about how the Umber Hulk were unable to do their psychosis. She says that the first time she fell, a terrible sound emitted and she thinks it was the strange orb we found. #clues

Wash is really tired and collapses. We rest for another hour. It is noon.

Star scouts ahead as we move at normal speed back to town. 

We learn Wash has some kind of portal thing in his wrist that shoots out green light when he snaps it back. #characterlore

Star sees four figures walking in the distance. They appear to be going southwest about 100 feet in the distance. We are just traveling west. After about an hour they turn around and start walking straight north. 

If we keep moving forward, we’ll be near them. 

We learn that Wash’s sword is screaming. #characterlore

We are about a mile out and we can now see the figures are owlbears. We all attempt to drop to the ground and be quiet so they’ll pass. Thankfully, it works and they don’t notice us as they walk by. 

We walk stealthily for another mile or so to check for owlbears. We carry on and Wash checks intermittently. Wash can detect another 6 owlbears. 

Wash is a deity now, not in the sense that he’s the god, he just believes in the god. He created it. He shattered his ego to develop godlike powers to break the time bubble. #characterlore

Star and Arachne commune with their own deities. I try to follow suit to fit in. None of us hear much. 

We travel the rest of the day uneventfully. We have no hut tonight. Arachne searches for a place to rest and I help. Wash face plants. Arachne finds a cave. The walls seem smooth and there is a bench like structure on the side. It seems someone made this nice. #clues

Star tries to ask Arachne about her survival skills. She says it was necessary. We learn that her mother is dead. She won’t look at anyone. #characterlore

Star uses prestidigitation to clean Elzira. #bathtime

We all get inside the cave and start choosing watches. Elzira and Star take early shifts. I take last two shifts. Arachne joins me on the last shift.
