Into the Gray

Session Summary

We search for a safe place for the Planetars and find ourselves in the deep cave where David Henderson is, who offers us a purple liquid that has some kind of healing effect. We make plans to meet him for lunch the next day, but Arachne scolds me about discretion, so we leave to get permission from the Planetars before talking about them to him. We return to Hestor and the others and ask if we have found somewhere for them to stay, but one creature is angry about someone knowing about magical blue items, which was what I had said so far to Henderson. We discuss getting permission to talk to Henderson, and as we say our goodbyes, I take some scrap metal for new bracers from the ruins. We then teleport back to New Flavem.

As a group, we search for somewhere safe for the giants. 

I head out towards David Henderson and the crew follows. Arachne sees me Polymorph into a mouse and is pissed I didn’t say anything and follows me down, squeaking angrily behind me. Before I went down, I said “We’re coming down David! It’s me, your friend, Pharèl.” 

Twinkletoes plays the Flute up above quite well. 

We trek down quite far. We get to the exit. There is a familiar face sitting at a desk reading a piece of paper. 

I drop Polymorph and he doesn’t seem to notice. “My friend, David!”

He looks up, “Oh hey man! That was uh, Pharèl right?” He picks up a glass and takes a sip of whatever was inside. “Wanna try a sip?”

There is a purple liquid inside. 

“What’s it do?”

“It tastes good, that’s what!” 

I sip some. I explain that Arachne is the other mouse. 

At the base is a faint taste of grapes. As it touches my tongue, it’s almost just like grape juice. This is immediately followed by a very sweet taste that tastes like nothing else I’ve had. It is super sweet. It leaves a bit of an odd, bitter taste on my tongue.

He says he makes it himself. 

I ask if it’s like Nature’s Medicine. I try to ask more about it, but he just repeats “It heals what ails ya!” Not a punch kind of bad but another bad.

Something about when things feel wrong, something is off. But not a physical problem. That’s the kind of thing this can help with. Meta note: When I gave it to Elzara it had a very positive fix/side effect. #clues #boons #items

David sees if Arachne will go on his hand. Arachne does so. 

He puts her down on the desk and offers a tiny cup of the liquid to her. She drinks it!

He keeps drinking it and he’s very slurpy about it. 

I ask about his cave system. Snooping magic people try tracking things. There is technically another system but it’s part of a natural cave somewhere else.

There’s another little hole that leads down there. “We’re kind of looking for somewhere to stash some stuff” I mention. Arachne squeaks in pain. 

“What’s up?”

“Well it does seem your little friend is annoyed with your descriptions. But seeing is 10 times as good as describing.” 

I seem lost and Arachne jumps off the table as she un-polymorphs. She is extremely fed up.

She says there is discretion that must needs be met that perhaps I have not met. 

He seems okay that she’s asking for space for us to talk first. 

We go up and Arachne yells at me a bit. We have an appointment to meet him for lunch the next day at lunch. 

We decide to go back to talk to the interplanar beings to get permission to talk to David. 

We leave the city walls to go do this outside, the watch person asks where we’re going and I say just hiking. “You adventuring types are weird.” “That's me!” I cartwheel with great deception as we walk away. 

We get to the treeline and set up the teleporter. 

We get back to the basement and head down to Hestor and co.

It looks like the others are now awake!

“Hail friends, have you found a place we can stay?”

I stay quiet after being yelled at last time. 

Arachne speaks up to explain the situation. 

One of the creatures is angry that someone knows there are magical blue items. She and Hestor whisper to each other. 

The conversation turns to getting permission to talk to David about them.

I speak up for myself that he doesn’t fully know what’s going on. 

Hestor suggests we ask if he is happy to help hide giants who need somewhere safe to stay. 

The cranky one sighs about all of this.

As we say goodbyes, I say “And you’re welcome for freeing you from your prisons.” 

There is some dissent for them saying thank you but the others do anyways. I stink eye the cranky one and say “You are very welcome” more pointedly. 

As we go to leave and I race back to the pedestal area and grab some scrap metal that might be useful for my bracers. 

We all teleport back out. We are back on the road. We go back to New Flavem. It’s been about two or so hours. It’s 6:30pm.

I pick up a couple of flowers and hand them to the person on watch and say “It was a beautiful walk.” as we re-enter town. She gives me the fakest smile anyone has ever seen. “Thanks.” The second we walk past, she discards them. #relationships

With that, we are back in town and grab dinner and head to bed.
