Into the Gray

Session Summary

The group sets out to find Arachne's orb in the ocean and devises a plan to use Polymorph to search effectively. Twinkletoes teaches us about sea creatures, but they still can't get a vision of one. I head out to a meeting with Star tagging along. At the meeting, I'm given a uniform and led to a seat, while Star sneaks around the building and discovers some potentially dangerous defenses. I get the sense I narrowly avoided being brainwashed or charmed in some way.

We decide to start the day by looking for Arachne’s orb in the ocean. She attempts to ask her goddess for help. We come up with a plan to use Polymorph to search for it most effectively. We turn to Twinkletoes to try and teach us about sea creatures. She is able to teach us a lot but we still don’t quite get a vision of one. Arachne asks her goddess for a vision of a shark… she does not receive one.

At noon, I head out to my meeting. The rest realize no one is going with me and Star decides to tag along.

The building looks about the size and shape of a warehouse. There is an obvious front entrance. There is an anti-chamber inside the door. There is a person at a desk.

“Hey! You got an invitation for this?”

I grin and explain that we’re here together and how I met the group in the Buzzed Beetle.

They’re not sure that they can accomodate plus ones and the clerk runs off to check. They come back with a familar face. It’s the person I met on Tuesday at the bar. They say I can’t bring in Star and I elbow nudge him very obviously (Nat 1) and say “That’s alright, isn’t it Star?”

Star already is walking away to try and cast Invisibility.

I am brought inside. As I am walked in, I am handed a hat. “This is just a uniform, essentially!“ There are a lot of desks where different types of work have clearly been done, not just writing. The room is already filled with people wearing these hats. My guide says, “We’ll start in just a moment if you’d like to sit over here.” I am led to a seat.

Somebody steps up in front of the class. “Today we want to start as we always do, say it with me: Synergy. Say it with me: Synergy.” This goes on five times and I join in on the last time. I double Nat 20 a WIS save. I feel a kind of a brain fog for a moment, but it shortly passes. #clues #encounters/brainwashing #groups/synrgus

Star casts Invisibilty and attempts to sneak into the building. He’s able to quickly do all of this before the door is closed for the outer door. At this point, the open area is empty. There is a desk, the main entrance where I went into, and another door where the other staff went through. Star investigates the desk. There are just a bunch of basic papers. There is a role call sheet. Nothing seems filled out, basically empty paperwork. He takes the role call paper. He takes the writing utensils he finds.

He listens at the other door. He overhears a conversation implying that they have some sort of automatic and perhaps magical defenses to defend from potential invaders.

Looking under the door, it appears to be a lounge of some sort. One person sits down, another walks off through another door.
